What is the difference between middle class and lower class?

In a nutshell, money.

People's opinion of what middles class is.Traditionally the middle class is referred to as the working class due to their values to provide and earn for themselves. Anyone can inherited money and still be called a lower class individual due to their low-class values and lack of self-improvement.. By the same token, there are many well educated and “good” people who through bad business decisions and/or health issues have fallen into economical distress and may be living at poverty level and therefore, classified as lower class.

See how Wikipedia best describes the difference between middle class and lower class americans.

American middle class

An interesting video documentary called “Class Dismissed” navigates the steady stream of narrow working class representations from American television’s beginnings to today’s sitcoms, reality shows, police dramas, and daytime talk shows. Featuring interviews with media analysts and cultural historians, this documentary examines the patterns inherent in TV’s disturbing depictions of working class people as either clowns or social deviants — stereotypical portrayals that reinforce the myth of meritocracy. Class Dismissed breaks important new ground in exploring the ways in which race, gender, and sexuality intersect with class, offering a more complex reading of television’s often one-dimensional representations. The video also links television portrayals to negative cultural attitudes and public policies that directly affect the lives of working class people.

In most cases all classes work; upper their or family owned business, upper middle/middle run Business not own or small business owner, lower class Mc Donalds, Burger king, walmart employee.
Those that don’t work have inherited money or are on welfare.

More or less this is simply income. Working class is those people employed in lower tier jobs like garbage men. The lower class have these sorts of jobs but they drift between employment and unemployment often, and usually stay close to the poverty line. Most of the people in these classes are part of the mid 40% of Americans that don’t have a college degree. There is also a sort of social distinction in that the lower class is sometimes sort of alienated from the general community but stick together in close groups.

The working class has steady jobs but do not earn enough to be middle class. Lower class usually means people who only work intermittently or not at all. The may be people on welfare illegal immigrants or with alcohol or drug problems in cities. The rural poor in the south might also fall in this category.

It has to do with Income Stratification, frequency of labor, and type of labor. Working class is any person working between 30 and 40 hours per week total, and hold the job longer than 1 year. Lower class is working less than 20 hours total, in jobs lasting less than a year. Any working income is mostly earned income, meaning they derive most to all income from labor. Lower class income consists of earned and unearned income in the form of government subsidies.

In general, what makes one middle class person “upper middle class” and another “lower middle class” is their mannerism, money they have in their pocket that reflects an arrogant confidence mental state of mind, the cars they drive, the clothes they wear, the way they talk and lastly, their trophy wife.
